Amphibians are cold-blooded vertebrate animals, meaning that their body temperature varies according to the ambient temperature. They can live or be active both in the water and on land. Its skin, unlike that of reptiles, is not covered by scales, it is smooth and very permeable, playing an important role in breathing; they can also breathe through gills and lungs.
CONSERVATION
The permeability of the skin of amphibians, together with the fact that they divide their lives between land and water, makes these animals particularly sensitive to environmental pollution. On the other hand, the destruction of habitats is seriously threatening the survival of these animals which, since they are not very mobile, are unable to populate new places.
