A volunteer experience at the Vasco da Gama Aquarium can be extremely rewarding, giving those interested the chance to experience all the intense activity required to maintain its Exhibition behind the scenes of this century-old institution.
Activities:
• Taking part in maintenance activities for the live specimens on display (preparing food, feeding, cleaning aquariums, filters and tanks, setting up aquariums...) under the guidance of the technical assistants.
• On the first day of volunteering, the head of the Aquarium Service hands over the volunteer's orientation to one of the professional technicians, to whom they should turn every day at the start of their activities and whenever they need support.
Timetable and frequency:
• During normal working hours (9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.), on working days, to be agreed with the professional technician responsible for your guidance. We suggest starting the activity at the beginning of the morning or afternoon.
• Any weekly frequency and daily schedule is accepted, starting with a minimum of 10 consecutive working days or 2 months, 1 day a week, as long as this is agreed in advance with the coach responsible for your guidance.
• Any change to the previously agreed schedule or frequency must be communicated to the mentor.
