In this landmark work of Portuguese literature, there are numerous stanzas with astronomical references. Cantos V and X of The Lusiads are particularly rich. Following the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Luís Vaz de Camões, the Navy Planetarium has developed a new live session alluding to the theme, where visitors can get in touch with the work, travelling to the southern hemisphere, following Vasco da Gama's route and observing the celestial bodies to which Camões refers in the sky.
