Salamanders and newts belong to the Urodela group, which comprises about 360 species, mostly distributed across the cold and temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. They have an elongated body ending in a tail, and equally developed limbs, suitable for walking. They can climb trees, live in soil cavities or lead an entirely aquatic life.
