The first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic was initiated in the seaplane Lusitania, which was lost along São Pedro e São Paulo islands. A second plane, called Pátria, was sent, but it too was lost at sea. The trip was finally completed in the Santa Cruz. All of them were made by the English company Fairey, featuring slight differences between them.
