The survival of fish and invertebrates in aquariums requires numerous precautions, from which we must highlight those related to maintaining good water quality. The biological load of aquariums, far exceeding that found in the natural environment, causes a short-term deterioration in water quality due to a lack of oxygen and the accumulation of toxic substances from food leftovers and animal waste. Over the past few years, all saltwater aquariums have been fitted with individual filtration systems, thus improving water quality, facilitating thermal conditioning and isolation for treatment, where necessary.
On the other hand, it is also necessary to create conditions as close as possible to those that different species find in their original habitats. So, factors such as temperature, light or the type of habitat are taken into account according to the species we keep.
